Heat Safety

We will be following IHSA guidelines for hot weather days

Based on Heat Index 60 minutes prior to game/activity start

Below 95 degree
  • provide ample amounts of water
  • watch/monitor athletes for necessary action

Between 95-99
  • provide ample amounts of water
  • Recommend water breaks every 30-40 minutes for 5-10 minutes
  • watch/monitor athletes for necessary action

Between 100-104
  • provide ample amounts of water
  • mandatory water breaks every 30-40 minutes for 5-10 minutes
  • watch/monitor athletes for necessary action
  • consider postponing activity to later in the day
  • wear helmets only when needed
  • recheck heat index every 30 minutes for changes

Above 104 degrees
  • Heat Index will be check one hour before game start to make decision. Games and activities must be rescheduled. Please work with a board member to reschedule
