Dear Sandwich Baseball families,
As many of you may know, the organization voted in an entirely new board in the fall of 2019. Upon taking over the responsibilities in October 2019, our board came across some financial discrepancies which called for an internal investigation. After further review our volunteer board decided the investigation would best be handled by the local authorities.
This now closed criminal investigation completed by the Sandwich Police Department concluded that a former board member from the previous board mis-appropriated money from the organizationâ??s bank account. This was the act of one person and the current sitting board is not nor has not been under investigation.
No criminal charges were pursued by the Kendall County State Attorney's office and the amount owed by said former board member after the thorough investigation has been paid in full as of October 12th, 2020.
We believe in being honest and transparent with all those in our baseball family. We have and always will approach this situation from a factual standpoint and will continue to keep the organizationâ??s best interest at the forefront. We know that many will have questions and we want to openly address any and all questions. We will be holding our monthly board meeting virtually on Saturday November 14th at 9am. At this time we will have the investigating officer available for questions as well as time for the current board to address any relevant matters.
Any questions asked before that time will be directed to this meeting. We want to be attentive to any concerns and inquiries, addressing them during this allotted time will allow for all to hear the facts and plans moving forward.
